“Mendicants, there are these five faculties.“Pañcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni. What five?Katamāni pañca? The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom.Saddhindriyaṁ …pe… paññindriyaṁ—These are the five faculties.imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañcindriyāni.
Because of developing and cultivating these five faculties, one of two results can be expected:enlightenment in this very life, or if there’s residue left behind, non-return.”
Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, pañcannaṁ indriyānaṁ bhāvitattā bahulīkatattā dvinnaṁ phalānaṁ aññataraṁ phalaṁ pāṭikaṅkhaṁ—diṭṭheva dhamme aññā, sati vā upādisese anāgāmitā”ti.
