Walking and standing, sitting and lying down, extending and contracting the limbs: these are the movements of the body.

Caraṁ vā yadi vā tiṭṭhaṁ, nisinno uda vā sayaṁ; Samiñjeti pasāreti, esā kāyassa iñjanā.

Walking and standing,
Caraṁ vā yadi vā tiṭṭhaṁ,
sitting and lying down,

these are the movements of the body.

Then in nine streams the filth is always flowing. There is muck from the eyes, wax from the ears,

Athassa navahi sotehi, asucī savati sabbadā; Akkhimhā akkhigūthako, kaṇṇamhā kaṇṇagūthako.

Then there is the hollow head all filled with brains. Governed by ignorance, the fool thinks it’s lovely.

Athassa susiraṁ sīsaṁ, matthaluṅgassa pūritaṁ; Subhato naṁ maññati bālo, avijjāya purakkhato.
