The duty of one whose energy is strong;the duty of one who longs to wake up:that I’ll do, I won’t fail—see my energy and vigor!

“Yaṁ kiccaṁ daḷhavīriyena, yaṁ kiccaṁ boddhumicchatā; Karissaṁ nāvarajjhissaṁ, *nāvarajjhissaṁ → nāvarujjhissaṁ (bj, mr)passa vīriyaṁ parakkamaṁ.

The duty of one whose energy is strong;
“Yaṁ kiccaṁ daḷhavīriyena,
the duty of one who longs to wake up:
yaṁ kiccaṁ boddhumicchatā;
that I’ll do, I won’t fail—
Karissaṁ nāvarajjhissaṁ, *nāvarajjhissaṁ → nāvarujjhissaṁ (bj, mr)
see my energy and vigor!
passa vīriyaṁ parakkamaṁ.

Teach me the path,
Tvañca me maggamakkhāhi,
the direct route whose objective is freedom from death.
añjasaṁ amatogadhaṁ;
I’ll know it with wisdom,
Ahaṁ monena monissaṁ,
as the Ganges knows the ocean.
gaṅgāsotova sāgaran”ti.
