I was an only child,loved by my mother and father.They had me by practicingmany supplications and observances.

“Ekaputto ahaṁ āsiṁ, piyo mātu piyo pitu; Bahūhi vatacariyāhi, laddho āyācanāhi ca.

I was an only child,
“Ekaputto ahaṁ āsiṁ,
loved by my mother and father.
piyo mātu piyo pitu;
They had me by practicing
Bahūhi vatacariyāhi,
many supplications and observances.

Out of sympathy for mewishing me well and wanting the best for me,my mother and fathertook me to see the BuddhaBuddhaEl nombre dado a quien redescubre por sí mismo el sendero liberador del Dhamma, tras un largo período de haber sido olvidado por el mundo. Según la tradición, una larga línea de Buddhas se extiende hasta el pasado distante. El Buddha más reciente nació como Siddhattha Gotama en la India alrededor del año 500 a.e.c. Out of sympathy for me
Te ca maṁ anukampāya,
wishing me well and wanting the best for me,
atthakāmā hitesino;

took me to see the Buddha.

“We had this son with difficulty;he is delicate and pampered.We offer him to you, Lord,to attend upon the victor.”

‘Kicchā laddho ayaṁ putto, sukhumālo sukhedhito; Imaṁ dadāma te nātha, jinassa paricārakaṁ’.

“We had this son with difficulty;
‘Kicchā laddho ayaṁ putto,
he is delicate and pampered.
sukhumālo sukhedhito;
We offer him to you, Lord,
Imaṁ dadāma te nātha,
to attend upon the victor.”
jinassa paricārakaṁ’.

The teacher, having accepted me,declared to Ānanda:“Quickly give him the going-forth—this one will be a thoroughbred!”

Satthā ca maṁ paṭiggayha, ānandaṁ etadabravi; ‘Pabbājehi imaṁ khippaṁ, hessatyājāniyo ayaṁ’.

The teacher, having accepted me,
Satthā ca maṁ paṭiggayha,
declared to Ānanda:
ānandaṁ etadabravi;
“Quickly give him the going-forth—
‘Pabbājehi imaṁ khippaṁ,
this one will be a thoroughbred!”
hessatyājāniyo ayaṁ’.

The teacher, having accepted me,Satthā ca maṁ paṭiggayha, declared to Ānanda:ānandaṁ etadabravi; “Quickly give him the going-forth—‘Pabbājehi imaṁ khippaṁ, this one will be a thoroughbred!”hessatyājāniyo ayaṁ’.

After he, the teacher, had sent me forth,the victor entered his dwelling.Before the sun setmy mind was freed.

Pabbājetvāna maṁ satthā, vihāraṁ pāvisī jino; Anoggatasmiṁ sūriyasmiṁ, tato cittaṁ vimucci me.

After he, the teacher, had sent me forth,
Pabbājetvāna maṁ satthā,
the victor entered his dwelling.
vihāraṁ pāvisī jino;
Before the sun set
Anoggatasmiṁ sūriyasmiṁ,
my mind was freed.
tato cittaṁ vimucci me.

Tato satthā nirākatvā, paṭisallānavuṭṭhito; ‘Ehi bhaddā’ti maṁ āha, sā me āsūpasampadā.

The teacher didn’t neglect me;

when he came out from seclusion,
paṭisallānavuṭṭhito;
he said: “Come Bhadda!”
‘Ehi bhaddā’ti maṁ āha,
That was my ordination.
sā me āsūpasampadā.

I received ordination.

I’ve attained the three knowledges;
Tisso vijjā anuppattā,
oh, the clear rightness of the teaching!
aho dhammasudhammatā”ti.
