Transmigrating, I went to hell,and to the ghost realm time and again.Many times I dwelt longin the animal realm, so full of pain.

“Saṁsaraṁ hi nirayaṁ agacchissaṁ, Petalokamagamaṁ punappunaṁ; Dukkhamamhipi tiracchānayoniyaṁ, *tiracchānayoniyaṁ → tiracchānayoniyā (sya1ed, sya2ed, pts1ed, pts2ed)Nekadhā hi vusitaṁ ciraṁ mayā.

Transmigrating, I went to hell,
“Saṁsaraṁ hi nirayaṁ agacchissaṁ,
and to the ghost realm time and again.
Petalokamagamaṁ punappunaṁ;
Many times I dwelt long
Dukkhamamhipi tiracchānayoniyaṁ, *tiracchānayoniyaṁ → tiracchānayoniyā (sya1ed, sya2ed, pts1ed, pts2ed)
in the animal realm, so full of pain.

Mānusopi ca bhavobhirādhito, Saggakāyamagamaṁ sakiṁ sakiṁ; Rūpadhātusu arūpadhātusu, Nevasaññisu asaññisuṭṭhitaṁ.

I was also reborn as a human,
Mānusopi ca bhavobhirādhito,
and from time to time I went to heaven.
Saggakāyamagamaṁ sakiṁ sakiṁ;
I’ve stayed in realms of form and formlessness,
Rūpadhātusu arūpadhātusu,
among the neither-percipient-nor-non-percipient, <j>and the non-percipient.
Nevasaññisu asaññisuṭṭhitaṁ.

I was also reborn as a human,Mānusopi ca bhavobhirādhito, and from time to time I went to heaven.Saggakāyamagamaṁ sakiṁ sakiṁ; I’ve stayed in realms of form and formlessness,Rūpadhātusu arūpadhātusu, among the neither-percipient-nor-non-percipient, <j>and the non-percipient.Nevasaññisu asaññisuṭṭhitaṁ.

I know well these created states are insubstantial—*Sambhava means “creation, production”. The text is bridging the gap between bhava as the “states of existence” referred to above, and the “creation’ of those states, i.e. craving, referred to below.conditioned, unstable, always in motion.When I understood that this is created in myself,mindful, I found peace.

Sambhavā suviditā asārakā, Saṅkhatā pacalitā saderitā; Taṁ viditvā mahamattasambhavaṁ, Santimeva satimā samajjhagan”ti.

I know well these created states are insubstantial—*Sambhava means “creation, production”. The text is bridging the gap between bhava as the “states of existence” referred to above, and the “creation’ of those states, i.e. craving, referred to below.
