The aggregates are to be fully understood, ending the defilements is the full understanding of them, and an arahant is the one who has achieved this.

Then Venerable Rādha went up to the BuddhaBuddhaEl nombre dado a quien redescubre por sí mismo el sendero liberador del Dhamma, tras un largo período de haber sido olvidado por el mundo. And what is the individual who has completely understood? It should be said: a perfected one, the venerable of such and such name and clan. This is called the individual who has completely understood.”

Katamo ca, rādha, pariññātāvī puggalo? ‘Arahā’tissa vacanīyaṁ. Yvāyaṁ āyasmā evaṁnāmo evaṅgotto— ayaṁ vuccati, rādha, pariññātāvī puggalo”ti.

And what is the individual who has completely understood?

It should be said: a perfected one,
