“One of those monks who live in Pāṭaliputta—such brilliant speakers, and very learned—stands at the door:the old man, Khujjasobhita.

“Ye cittakathī bahussutā, Samaṇā pāṭaliputtavāsino; Tesaññataroyamāyuvā, Dvāre tiṭṭhati khujjasobhito”.

“One of those monks who live in Pāṭaliputta—
“Ye cittakathī bahussutā,
such brilliant speakers, and very learned—
Samaṇā pāṭaliputtavāsino;
stands at the door:
Tesaññataroyamāyuvā,
the old man, Khujjasobhita.
Dvāre tiṭṭhati khujjasobhito”.

“By war well fought, by sacrifice well made,
“Suyuddhena suyiṭṭhena,
by victory in battle;
saṅgāmavijayena ca;
by leading the spiritual life:
Brahmacariyānuciṇṇena,
that’s how one prospers in happiness.”
evāyaṁ sukhamedhatī”ti.
